For more than 20 years, Amy Friesen has worked in the world of aging and eldercare — first on the front lines of senior living and today as an entrepreneur, educator, author and speaker.

In 2014, Amy founded Tea & Toast, an eldercare planning company created to make complex care and senior living decisions easier for families. What began as one company has grown into a broader body of work focused on improving how families and professionals understand and navigate aging.

She later founded Eldercare Planners of Canada, a national network of professionals providing families with knowledgeable, independent guidance through aging and care decisions. That experience has given Amy a unique perspective on what aging looks like outside of policies, forms and textbook scenarios.

Her work explores the places where cognition, family dynamics, elder abuse, decision-making and care needs intersect, and what professionals need to recognize when those complexities show up in their work.

Today, Amy brings that knowledge to organizations and professional audiences through speaking, education and training. She is known for taking complicated subjects and making them practical, relatable and immediately useful.

Amy is also the best-selling author of Breadcrumbs: From Home Care to Care Homes. Her work has been recognized with the 2018 Businesswoman of the Year Award and a Forty Under 40 award in 2019, and she has shared her expertise through conferences, professional organizations and national media.
